What To Expect

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you have never had therapy before. This page outlines what sessions are like, how the process works, and what you can expect if you decide to get in touch.

The First Session

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We can begin gently, at a pace that feels manageable and right for you.

How Sessions Work

Sessions provide a regular space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in confidence. Some people come with something very clear they want to talk about, while others need time to understand what is going on. Both are welcome.

Confidentiality and Pace

Counselling is a confidential process, and creating a sense of safety is central to the work. You do not need to have the right words or a clear plan before you begin. We can work together in a way that feels steady, thoughtful and respectful of your individual needs.

There Is No Right Way To Begin

Some people arrive feeling ready to talk. Others feel uncertain, anxious or unsure of where to start. However you arrive, you are welcome. Counselling is not about getting it right. It is about having space to be heard and understood.

If You Would Like To Take The Next Step

If you have questions, or would like to arrange an initial conversation, you are welcome to get in touch. You only need to share as much as feels comfortable.
